Brownie Layer:
  • 113 g ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 100 g ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 50 g ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 30 g ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 70 g ½ cup + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 100 g ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cookie Layer:
  • 113 g ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 100 g ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 50 g ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 190 g 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 100 g ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt optional

Method
 

Brownie Layer:
  1. Whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, and chocolate chips until incorporated.
  4. Pour the batter into a parchment-lined square pan and smooth the top.
Cookie Layer:
  1. Mix melted butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
  2. Add egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips.
  4. Mix until a soft cookie dough forms.
Assembly & Baking:
  1. Spread the cookie dough evenly over the brownie layer.
  2. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden.
  3. Check doneness with a toothpick — it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  4. Let cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

- Do not overbake to keep the center fudgy.

- Use high-quality chocolate for deeper flavor.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top for a bakery-style finish.
